Our History

The Department of Chemistry at the University of Kelaniya has a rich legacy of providing quality education in Chemistry since the early 1990s. Starting with core subjects like atomic structure, chemical bonding, and thermodynamics, the curriculum has expanded to include advanced areas such as nanotechnology, quantum chemistry, and materials science.

Supported by a dedicated team of researchers and educators, the Department continues to contribute to global scientific advancement. As the largest student-led organization in both the Department and the Faculty of Science, the Chemical Society plays a vital role in fostering collaboration, leadership, and academic excellence among undergraduates.
